Returning to work? How to recommission your boiler or water cooler

As lockdown restrictions have now eased and we start to return to the workplace, we wanted to advise the best possible way to recommission your Water Coolers and Hot Water Boilers, if you have had to leave them unused for an extended period.

Please find below some quick steps that you can take, to ensure your equipment is prepared and ready to be used on your return. Plumbed-In Water Coolers:

  1. Short Term Shutdown (1 – 4 Weeks)
  • Before resuming use, draw off all water
  • Turn water supply on and allow machine to refill
  • Draw off 5 litres from each tap to flush the system
  • Sanitise taps and dispense area with food-safe spray or wipes
  1. Extended Shutdown (4 Weeks +)
  • Draw off any remaining water from each tap until the machine is fully drained
  • Upon recommissioning, turn on both power and water and allow machine to fill
